“Then If My People Who Are Called By My Name
Will Humble Themselves and …” (2Chronicles 7:14 NLT).
One Of The Most Wonderful Privileges of Our ‘Childrenship’ With Our Heavenly Father Is Our Father’s Predisposition To Restore Us! He knew from time that we are all like the prodigal son/child and just like his father was on the look-out for him the moment he left out of his house, our Heavenly Father is on the look-out for us. The best of us, yes, I mean the best of us, is not without stains of corruption in one or the other of life; and the Bible describes such seemingly great moral or spiritual splendour as we may think as “filthy rag”. Did you get that – filthy rag; a Rag is a bad enough but for it for be qualified as filthy, underscores the horrible and helpless state of our lives left to ourselves.
Therefore, to know that whatever our situation, our Father has our back and is watching out for us; what a privilege. Yes, many abuse this privilege from time to time; but again this is part of the high point of the privilege, God does not take it away, as many us are inclined to do, my very self a great culprit. No, God is not man; our unfaithfulness does not change His nature and character and diminish the promises and privileges that He has made available to us in His beloved- our Lord Jesus Christ. But like a good and loving father, He has put in place some conditions – from this passage it is that “… my people, who bear my name, humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways …”(CSB). The ‘conditionalities’ begin with membership; you must belong to Him to enjoy this and other privileges. They are not just for every one; yes not for everyone, though He loves and sent His Son to die for everyone. You have an important part to play – intentional acceptance and compliance. This is the catch for those who erroneously say that God is too good to punish, and worse still send people He made to hell. My friend, do you belong to this group of people? Check your theology or philosophy again; if He did not spare His Only Son but allowed Him to die a most gruesome death, forsaking Him at a most crucial moment can you see how skewed your reasoning, theology, or philosophy. And do you a mere mortal don’t have conditions for how people relate with you; do human systems not have conditions, which become contracts and agreements? Yeah, God should be different – that is one of the lies of Satan that you have swallowed hock, line and sinker; and if you remain there, you will also enjoy its consequences.
So my friend this is a great privilege: to be heard by God; forgiven and healed – fully restored by our loving Heavenly Father. Do you long for it? Then fulfil the conditions. Don’t be deceived by philosophies; and all the customs of man/mankind that do not accept these conditions. Toss them in the trash bin and humbly come to your loving, but disciplined heavenly father; yes, humbly come to Him; humility is one of the conditions. Humble yourself before Him because you are a mere mortal; the difference between you and those who are now in the grave is God’s breathe in you. Yes God’s breathe; and He takes it whenever it is time for Him to do
so. Therefore, you have this moment; that is the only thing you have. Don’t play or joke with it. Did you read the novel ‘Even Babies die’? so don’t kid yourself; you are at the verge of entering and enjoying great privileges or of doom. What happens to you is your choice. Choose wisely.
Have a God-Focused and Blessed day, Amen.
