A NEW THRESHING INSTRUMENT Oct 24, 2020

Life Is About Meaningful Impact

“You Will Be A New Threshing Instrument”! (Isaiah 41:15 NLT). Wow! A promise; a prophecy; believe it and claim it! Hmmm, not so easy.

The Christian life can be likened to a bar of steel. It has very little value if left unprocessed. But if processed; though such will require a lot of heat, pressure, compression and hammering, it commands value beyond imagination. Someone has said: “Those who suffer most are capable of yielding most; and it is through pain that God is getting the most out of us, for His glory and the blessing of others.” So God says that, He has refined and tested you (us) in the furnace of affliction, so that His name will not be dishonoured and corrupted (see Isaiah 48:10-11). But many professing Christians want the greatness and the splendour of life without the fire of refinement. Impossible! So just as it has been said: “Life is very mysterious. Indeed, it would be inexplicable unless we believed that God was preparing us for scenes and ministries that lie beyond the veil of the senses in the eternal world, where highly tempered spirits will be required for special service.”

Highly Tempered Spirits! I should think that this at the minimum, is part of what the Apostle Paul was talking about when he spoke of the revelation of the sons of God (see Rom.8:19). Yes, like in the days of Paul, and more than ever before, our world, especially Nigeria today cries for the revelation of these sons of God. But do we have such people? Not really; they are not made through just simple desire; activities; or worse still, compromise; hypocrisy; and the rationalisation of the standards of God. No; neither are they made of high sounding, motivational-like teaching and preaching. Men (and women) of steel; Highly Tempered Spirits; and New Threshing Instruments, Must Be Crushed, Processed and Refined By Pressure and Fire.

This is where the church has lost its value. She seems to be filled with people who want the crown and without the cross; the glory without the grave; and the transformed nature without the fire of sanctification. It is a world of instant gratification, and the church is not left behind in this pursuit. The church is at ease in Zion (Nigeria) (Amos 6:1). God wants to make us into sharp, new, and effective threshing instruments; but true to the “:living” sacrifice that we are, we always manage to crawl away from the altar of the furnace of affliction; the fire, and the hammer of transformation. No wonder there is so much commotion but no real movement; so much noise but no message; and so much activity without productivity! Oh for the spirit of genuine desire, commitment and the relinquishment of self to God, so that He will truly make us into the effective and new threshing instruments that will thresh the high places of corruption, wickedness, oppression, extortion, exploitation, hypocrisy, selfishness, greed and covetousness of our society and time!!!

Oh God, here I lay down my life that you will make me into this new threshing instrument, amen.
