“Seek The Kingdom Of God Above All Else, And Live Righteously,
And He (GOD) Will Give You Everything You Need.” (Matt.6:33 NLT).
Yes, this is about getting and setting our priorities right in order to obtain what really matters! We are made by God; and what is more, we exist and function by His grace. Yet this Being who not only gives us our lives, but sustains and maintains it, is not often our priority; not our focus; and some even disdain and reject Him outrightly? Indeed we serve and live under a most Merciful and Loving God; glory Hallelujah!
So today, dear friend, as you have been given another privilege of life, may I remind you that whether you accept it or not, you live under a King with a Kingdom; and His Instruction is that you put the pursuit; knowledge; and your obligation to this King and His Kingdom as first in any form of priority that you make and will ever make. It is a command from the King of kings; and if you know anything about the implications of obeying or disobeying a king then act appropriately NOW! You, including those of us who claim to be free thinkers and atheist; yes, we all live at His pleasure. The most fortunate thing which however, makes a lot of us to behave in our disrespectful and arrogant manner is that this Almighty King is not like what we know. He is Love Personified, and Mercy Is His Forerunner. But I challenge you to see that it is the least of a responsible act, to deliberately and intentionally seek the knowledge of this kingdom. This knowledge will enable you to know that to obtain anything of lasting value; you must live righteously and make the worship of your King your way of life.
Yes, it is true that our experience of how life is lived does not always point to this requirement for authentic living; but it makes no difference. Today you are reminded and so begin to act accordingly. It is your key to a joyful and satisfying life. See what is put out as the initial benefit – “everything you need” will be given to you. What a benefit! Do you have real needs; I mean your real needs, not wants and all the wrong pursuits of materialism by which we have made THINGS our god. No, your King who made and know you says He will give you your needs if you seek, desire and live for Him; and live righteously in your sphere of influence, whatever that means to you.
The Apostles, especially Peter, John, James and Paul, made it very clear that we brought nothing into this world and that certainly we will take nothing with us at the point of death; a fact that we are all witnesses to, except we have not lost anyone or known of anyone who has died in our life time. They further challenged that all the glittering things that preoccupies us and even make some of us to commit crimes will all pass with their use and with the passage of this temporary world. Finally they reminded us that we live, move and have our existence in Him (Jesus Christ) alone. Then they posed the question, which I also join them to pose to you today: in light of these facts, what type of life should you be living?
Your answer determines the type and quality of life you live today and forever.
Have a blessed, God-centred and victorious week.
