“Share Each Other’s Burden, And In This Way
Obey The Law of CHRIST” (Galatians 6:2 NLT).
This commandment definitely emanated from the Loving and Compassionate nature of our Heavenly Father, who wants us to act like Him, having made us in the first place in His nature. He always shows us loving care and kindness (grace) even when we do not deserve it. And our Lord Jesus Christ, made loving one another a measure, and a singular characteristic that should distinguish us as His followers (Christians). What a beautiful world God designed for us, especially as Christians, from which we have allowed sin and blindness from Satan to alienate us. This commandment is also coming from the recognition of the fact that burdens and challenges will abound in a fallen world, with the enemy of God and our enemy – Satan still prowling about seeking whom he will destroy, especially those who are careless about their faith and have bought hock, line and sinker, into the delusions of our instant satisfaction world. This is therefore, a call to practical Christianity – to practice genuine love and be our ‘brother’s keeper’, a fact that God made very clear as a requirement of relationship from the beginning – remember case of Cain and Abel? And it is that time of the year when we give gifts; may I challenge you to look beyond your close circle of friends who can reciprocate your action, to the really needy, and be a true ‘brother’s keeper’?
So today, dear friend, as you have been given another privilege of life, to take on a new work week, may I challenge you to know that God has a pattern of living for His children, which should distinguish their lives and community from others, make it attractive and inviting to non-believers, and therefore bring them – those He created and came to redeem into the fold of believers? May I tell you that this show of practical love is a condition for fulfilling the laws of Christ your Redeemer and Saviour; and that failing to do so is living in disobedience? Heaven has no place for the disobedient! As it has been said, you have one life to live, and only what is done for the Lord endures, and I add, endures with eternal value and reward.
Have a blessed, God-centred and victorious week.
