WATER FROM THE ROCK – CONFERENCE & WORKSHOP 2025
Nigeria, is a Hard Rock, hard as an Igneous Rock in the difficulty that she poses to her citizens in making a living, living in safety, and living a life of integrity and dignity, among other basic things that should be part of any organized country. This was made worse from 1986, when against every reason Nigeria took an IMF Loan, under the Military regime in government at that time. In January 1986, I believe that the Naira, Nigeria’s Currency was at par with the British pound, and stronger than the American Dollar. But by June of the same year, when the devaluation that was a major condition for taking the Loan was started, the Naira fell to more than N2.00 to the American dollar. That fall has continued up till this day, with the exchange rate at approximately N1498.02 to the American dollar (exchange rate of N1 to 0.00067 US D – official rate). This has continued to bring unimaginable pain and hardship to Nigerians, with a few privileged profiting from the misfortune they have created!
